  • Glaciers were from 10,000 to 8,000 BCE Mammoths and mastadons were perfect for that time.
  • After the glaciers melted mammoths became extinct and peoples diets became more varied than ever in 7,000 to 5,000 BCE

Vocab

  • An archelogist would study artifacts that people left behind. One example of an artifact is a petroglyph. Scientists have different hypothesis about them because of the perspective that they see the creation.

Minnesota Woman
was found in 1931 at pelican rapids. Archaeologists believe she drowned in an ancient lake. she wore a shell pendant around her neck. she was 15 when it happened about 8,000 to 10,000 years ago.

La moille
is i winona county. archaeologists are not sure of the age of the artifacts found here. there are Large numbers of fish bones and clam shells lead them to think it was used as a fishing camp.
