the wahine is a ferry that sailed from lyttleton to wellington

53 people lost theIR lives and over 500 survived

waves up to 14 meters high

the wahine Shipwreck was 45 yrs ago on APRIL 10th

1968 at 1:25pm

the winds got up to 160 km per hour

the wahine crashed into barretts reef near Seatoun

many people that didn't SURVIVE were Carried by the wild seas and died

either of hypothermia or being smashed against the rocks in Eastbourne

surviVORS AND FAMILY still gather today in wellinton on april the

10th each year to remember the disaster.
