Course Synopsis

BIK22303 Reading and Writing in English

1. This course aims to explain strategies in reading skills for critical analysis in fiction and non-fiction texts and produce sound academic writing for fictional and analytical texts in relation to historical and contemporary contexts.

It covers various topics related to reading processes, including surveying, annotating, reviewing, evaluating, paraphrasing, summarizing, making inferences, and identifying key ideas.

Besides, it also covers some topics related to writing such as academic and non-academic writing in the English language.

Teaching and Learning Process:
- Hybrid mode, where face-to-face meetings will be complemented with online activities via individual and group activities to meet the aims of the course.

At the end of this course, students will have mastered two essential skills: critically analyzing reading materials and producing sound writing for both academic and non-academic purposes.
