Key
-contact a locksmith
-you can find out where the key might go which can help you narrow down who might own it.

Sand
-you could contact a environmental biologist who may know more about sand
-different beaches have different sand so you could figure out where the sand is from and possibly the area where the suspect a was.

Twisty tie
-contact a factory who makes them or a forensic scientist
-could tell you what they could have used it for or who may have touched it

Chewed gum
-go to a forensic scientist
-can tell you possible DNA from the saliva

Tip of a crayon
-go to makers of crayola or a factory that makes crayons
-could have possible evidence of what they drew on which can narrow down the area which the suspect may have been in

String
-could go to possible manufacturers of string of a forensics expert
-could find out where the string was from and can possibly narrow down the suspect pool based who had access to this type

Toenail
-with a toenail there isn't necessarily DNA so one could just take it to a medical examiner or podiatrist
-you could possibly find the age range from whom it might have came from

-you could take this to a forensics specialist
-they could identify the type of material, what it is made from, and where it may have possibly have come from

Ember
-an environmentalist may know about it
-ember is a glowing hot wood which is sometimes left after a fire so it might help narrow down the location

Burned match
-you could possibly talk to a chemist because they know about how things burn
-it could tell you how long it was lite, how it was lite, and possibly what it was around.

Fruit seed
-you could possibly talk to a botanist or an environmentalist
-if could tell you what fruit it is, where this fruit is found, and possibly find a suspect connected to it

-they could tell you what kind of spice it is, where it could be found, and see if the suspect has been around this type recently

-they could tell you specifically what it is and where it can be found which can create a small area in which the suspect may have been

-you could consult a seamstress
-they could tell you where it may have come from like the type of clothing
