CONDITIONS

  • Low pay
  • Long work hours
  • Unsafe working conditions

ACTIONS

  • Created United Farm Workers Union set up in Mexican neighborhoods
  • NFWA was created and determined for better working conditions
  • CSO helped Mexican neighborhoods taxes, getting children into schools, and studying for citizenship tests
  • The grape boycott

OBSTACLES

  • In 1936 NLRA took effects making most Americans able to join unions not farm workers
  • In 1941 the bracero program brought Mexicans to the U.S braceros undercut them.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 1975 agricultural labor relations act gave the farm workers the right to vote on a union
  • End of the abusive system got the workers away from dangerous conditions and dangerous pesticides
