How to add integers

  • If there is a positive and a negative subtract
  • Put the bigger number’s sign
  • Ex: -4+6= subtract 4 and 6
  • The bigger number is 6 which is positive
  • The answer is 2
  • If they’re both positive, add normally

Subtracting integers

  • If there are two numbers that are negative add then put the negative sign
  • Ex: -4-6= -10
  • If there are two subtracting symbols right next to each other then you change it to a positive sign and follow the adding integer rules
  • Ex: -4-(-6)=-4+6= 2
