Simile : compares 2 things using 'like' or 'as'
For example :
The drops of rain felt like small kisses on my face.

Metaphor : compares 2 different things saying they are the same and uses 'is', 'are', 'was', or 'were'
For example :
Your love is an ocean.

Descriptive writing engages the senses

(it visualizes everything the author sees, smells, tastes, feels, and hears)

It SHOWS rather than tells

And it's loaded with adjectives
