The Discovery of Gold

On January 24, 1848 gold was discovered by a man named John Sutter at his sawmill on a river up North.

People who came for Gold

This transformed San Francisco from a frontier settlement into a bustling town filled with gold diggers.

The economy boomed as soon as people mined for gold with the exceptions of larger cities and an increase in prices.
