  • 46% of all American adults now own a smartphone
  • 70% said they check their smartphone within an hour of getting up 56% check their phone within an hour of going to sleep

TEXTING

  • Phone users tend to text during their sleep now
  • This results in a disturbed sleep pattern and can cause health issues

  • Cell phone users range from young children to older adults
  • The effect of cell phones on younger children can be drastic

BEHAVIOURS

  • Some cell phone users have problematic behaviors related to substance use disorders. These behaviors can include preoccupation with cell phone communication, excessive money or time spent on cell phones, use of mobile phones in situations such as driving a car

MENTAL HEALTH

  • The over-use of mobile phones can end up affecting social and psychological well-being, as well as health

People end up replacing face to face conversations with texting
