BATTLE AT FALLEN TIMBERS

• They wanted to push the British and Indians out of Michigan
• At fallen timbers the British and the Indians marched to the maimee River
• They built Fort Wayne in Indiana

AN IMPORTANT TREATY

• Indians sent a treaty
• Gave up most of Ohio and Detroit
• Indians were then provided with $20,000 in trade goods and $9,500 for goods in each year forever
• First major land treaty to affect Michigan

THE STARS AND STRIPES OVER MICHIGAN

• The British, risking war with America again, decide to leave Detroit. They no longer had the Indians on their side, so they were not prepared for another war.
• In 1796, Michigan finally belonged to America
• Many people in Michigan moved to Canada.
