It is rarely used today. It's still used though.
It isn't used that often anymore because, they are blocking it.

POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES ABOUT SOLAR POWER.
Positive, Its not like other electricity It is a free and it will collect and energy for you throughout the life.
Negative, to power an entire building, a large solar array is required. You can't use small ones.
Negative, only works when sun is shining.
You don't need just sun, I learned stars are another way to power solar energy.
