  • Originally developed by Pfizer for the treatment of high blood pressure and angina pectoris.
  • During the clinical trials the researchers discovered that the drug was more effective at inducing erections than treating angina.

Minoxidil

  • Minoxidil was developed as a antihypertensive agent.
  • During clinical trials they identified that patients were getting a bit hairy.
  • In 1980 an open letter to the NEJM by Anthony R. Zappacosta put paid to the pharmaceutical company keeping this a secret.
  • It's now the active ingredient in Regaine Topical solution.

Radiographer Reporting

  • This meta-analysis by Brealey et al demonstrates a summary sensitivity of radiographer reporting of 92.6% (95% CI: 92.0, 93.2), with a specificity of 97.7% (95% CI: 97.5, 97.9).
  • ROC curves indicated that radiographer reporting accuracy in clinical practice was comparable to that of the reference standard.

  • At ten years follow-up less breast oedema, breast shrinkage and telangectasia was significantly less common in the shorter fractionation group.
