PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Water is the most important resource
on earth. Animals, plants everything living all need water. When nasa looks for lifeforms on other planets water is the first thing they look for.
For us fresh water is at easy access. All we simply have to do is turn on a tap and we have a unlimited source of it and yet most of the world doesn’t.
Did you know? That 71% of our planet is covered by water but only 1% is accessible.
1% doesn’t sound like a lot and it isn’t. Over 2.5 billion people don’t have access to clean drinking water.
The problem is so severe that every 15 seconds a child dies due to water born diseases.
The main problem of the water crisis were in is water scarcity. It’s due primarily to overpopulation. With regions with little water to start, the population continues to rise and there is not enough to go around.
Water scarcity is increasing in regions everyday such as...
China, India, Pakistan in the Middle East and many countries and regions of Africa.
Aside from overpopulation we face other pressing issues affecting water such as pollution, overuse of water and climate change.
Pollution is one of many pressing issues of the water crisis. Fertilizers and pesticides, soil depletion and poor waste control all contribute to the loss of fresh water.
Overuse of water is another pressing issue contributing to the water crisis. Agriculture, industrial activities and domestic use takes up 70% of our fresh water. Inadequate management of water through those uses puts stress on the amount of available water resources.
And finally, Climate change. Global warming is causing more and more floods, heat waves and droughts everyday around the world. Drying up the little water we have and melting out glaciers.
Humans have the natural ability to find solutions to any problem. And we can do the same with the water crisis. Sustainable water management, reclaimed water, pollution control & better sewage treatment and awareness & education all contributes to the solution.
