WHY DO WE NEED THE MOON?

WHAT THE MOON DOES FOR US

• The moon gives us tides because of its gravitational pull on the earth.
• The moon helps stabilize the earth's rotation
• The moon gives the earth some light during the night time
• The moon makes eclipses on earth about every 2-3 years.

WHAT WOULD BE DIFFERENT

• If we had no moon the oceans and other big bodies of water would be significantly calmer.
• Nights on earth would've be much darker.
• Days on earth would only be about 6-8 hours.( 1,100-1,400 days each year)
• The earths axis would change tremendously over time changing temperatures drastically around the world.
• We wouldn't have the concept of months or a calendar like we do today.
