WHO IS HE?
Thomas More was born in London, England on Febuary 7, 1478
Attended St. Anthony School in London then at Oxford University
When he was younger, he served as a page for John Morton
He was a Philosopher, Lawyer, and Journalist
In 1503 he moved to a monastery

KEY EVENTS
Joined Parliament in 1504
1513-1518 wrote "The History of King Richard III" and "Utopia" in 1516
Served as Counselor of King Henry VIII
1523 he was elected to the house of commons but resigned in 1532
1534 did not accept King Henry as head of the Church of England
4.
AFTERLIFE
April 17, 1534 sent to Tower of London and found guilty of Treason
July 6, 1535 he was beheaded
Beatuified in 1886
Canonized as a Saint in 1935
Known as the "Reformation Martyr"

THOMAS MORE'S CONSCIENCE DEVELOPMENT
Stage 6 of Kohlberg's Theory of Conscience Development
Stood for what he thought was right, Followed his conscience
Even though it meant losing his life he stood against King Henry VIII
Never accepted him as head of the church of England because of his devorices
In the end it cost him his life
