IT IS ESTIMATED

THAT IN 100 YEARS THERE WILL BE NO MORE RAINFORESTS

THE AVERAGE FOREST LOSS PER MINUTE

IS EQUAL TO 20 FOOTBALL FIELDS

IN THE NEXT 25 YEARS

28,000 SPECIES ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME EXTINCT

QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA DEFORESTATION

BETWEEN 2015-2016

THERE HAS BEEN 400,000 HECTARES DEFORESTED

THE DEFORESTATION RATE HAS RISEN 33%

IN THE SAME TIME FRAME

THE MAIN REASON THESE TREES ARE BEING CLEARED

IS THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS MAKING SPACE FOR COW PASTURES

REASONS FOR DEFORESTATION

  • Making space for cows
  • Selling the logs for money
  • Butchering cows for money
  • No laws preventing it

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

  • New laws forcing companies to replant trees
  • People consuming less beef to prevent the need for cows

An example of a law to prevent deforestation occurs in Vermont.
The law states that for every tree cut down, the company has to plant two in its place

IN MY OPINION:
Passing laws like Vermont has is the best solution because it would be very difficult to convince enough people to stop eating beef.
