PRESENTATION OUTLINE
WHAT?
This year my HK portfolio at Nerina residence was Humanitarian, Global & Environmental. I was tired of Nerina's mindset about the whole idea of "community service" which I rather like to call Community Interaction. In the past, when we had left the community partner after a year, we left the ones we had served without anything but memories. This year, we had something more sustainable in mind. Something that would equip the ones we interact with, with skills or knowledge that would mean something to them, and be taught to others again, through them.
VISION
Rebuilding the shattered lives of homeless and high risk children on the streets of Stellenbosch.
MISSION
In order to realize this vision we offer services, facilities, programmes and staff to provide in the immediate needs of homeless and high risk children on the streets of Stellenbosch, focusing in particular, but not exclusively on the age group between 7 and 16.Our immediate aim is not to prolong the children’s time in the streets or in our care, but to place them as quickly as possible back into the community where they came from, preferably reuniting them with their families, and where this is not possible, we aim to facilitate the provision of appropriate alternative foster care.
Note: According to law, we were not allowed to photograph the faces of these children individually, or small groups. Large group photos will be shown in one case. "Fake" photos will be used as an indication of what we did at Youth Outreach.
WHAT DID WE ACTUALLY DO?

- Sport coaching (rules of the sports played also taught).
- Practical Bible lessons with everyone interacting and participating.
- "Fun" /social activities, also sustainable (green) activities.
