The Boston Tea Party

THE BOSTON TEA PARTY

  • The colonist needed to be calmed down.
  • The British and Parliament decided to cancel all the taxes except tea.
  • This made the colonist mad so they refused to buy tea from Britain.

In May 1773, Parliament passed the Tea Act. The British East India Company was the only company that wasn't hard to buy tea from. This act mad colonist furious. On December 16, 1773, a man named Samuel Adams led a group of men with American Indian clothes on to three ships. They ruined 342 crates of tea by dumping them into the harbor. This was known as The Boston Tea Party.
