Feminism Before The Industrial Revolution
Feminism before the Industrial Revolution did not exist. Almost all women were housewives. They cleaned, cooked, took care of their children and did everything their husband asked them to do. Women did not partake in the workforce, had no voice in politics and were rarely educated.
Feminism During and After The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution changed the life for women in Britain and all over the world. Women finally worked outside of their home, gained suffrage rights and became educated. The Industrial Revolution sparked a new era for women everywhere. (Video)
Government, women's rights, and criticism linked my topic with my group members. Throughout the mid and late 1800s, women were exempt from all political issues. The Industrial Revolution led to women voting and serving in legislative activities.
Women not only earned a spot in politics but they also began to gain rights.
Although the Industrial Revolution was a blossoming time for women, they faced a ton of criticism. There were still many that supported anti-suffragism and refrained from hiring women to work for them. Even though this stood as an obstacle for working women in Britain, nothing stopped them from standing up for what they believed was just.
The Progression of Britain
The progression of Britain is the overall theme of our group and what links everyone together. The Industrial Revolution and Feminism shifted from Britain to the United States and then all over the world. Feminism changed Britain in limitless ways. This era contributed to a change in gender roles, morals, living standards, and most importantly the life of women. The Industrial Revolution amounted to a progression in Britain that is and will always be memorable and life changing for both men and women. (Video)
