PRESENTATION OUTLINE

The Beatitudes

By Graham Tower

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

This Beatitude means that you should be humble in everything you do. It means that you should not brag about your success and earnings. To be poor in spirit, means to act humble and selfless.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

This Beatitude means that when you mourn for someone or something you love, God will comfort you in your time of sorrow. When you are sad remember that God is with you and he will comfort you. God loves everyone and he will always be with you.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.

This Beatitude means that people that are meek will be rewarded by God. Someone who is meek is gentle, humble, submissive, and mild. People who are meek do not fight, insult, or argue with others. People that are meek are kind to others, they complement others, and they love others.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be satisfied.

This Beatitude means that if someone yearns to be righteous to God, God will help them through life and love them. To be righteous means that you do morally right acts in God’s eyes. People that are righteous pray, do acts of charity, and love others. If you are righteous to God, you will be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

This Beatitude means that if you show others mercy and forgiveness, God will show you mercy by giving you pleasant times in your life. In turn, if you are unkind and you do not show mercy to anyone, God will not show you mercy. Always be merciful to those around you, because that is what Jesus did for us.

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.

This Beatitude means that if your heart is blessed and selfless you will see God. That means that if you are kind and happy, then God will help you through life. To be clean of heart means that your heart is full of good, honesty and kindness, without evil.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

This Beatitude means that if you make others have peace with each other, then you will be blessed by God. For example, if two classmates are fighting, you should try to get them to make up. You should never encourage a fight or start a fight. You should try to bring peace between others.

Blessed are those who are persecuted, for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

This Beatitude means that if you are persecuted for your love of God, like Jesus, then you will be very special in God’s eyes. Jesus was persecuted for loving God. Jesus was sentenced to death for his faith. He died for all of us.
