What will we learn in unit 4?

  • Ratios
  • Scale Factors (C.O.P)
  • Percents
  • Unit Rates
  • Proportional Relationships

Words you need in Your head

  • C.O.P: A number that is constantly being used in a Proportional Relationship.

Formulas

  • The main formula you will be using for this unit is Y = KX. Y is based off of K and X.
  • K is the C.O.P
  • X is whatever your going to multiply by K to equal Y

Sixth grade relationships

  • Sixth grade you learn about Perncents.
  • Worked on multi - step problems.

Pretest
Jimmy rides at 3 miles In one hour. Find how many miles he will ride in 5 hours? (Hint: Y=KX)
In one hour he is 90% away from his destination. How many miles will Jimmy ride to get to his destination?

Major Concepts

  • Percents
  • C.O.P
  • Proportional relationships

Percent

  • A mattress costs 325$. The store bought the mattress for 250$
  • How much did the price increase?
  • The store discounts it by 35%.
  • What is the new price?

  • C.O.P can and will be used for Scale Drawing, finding speed and time.
  • The size of a wall is 100 meters long. How long is a wall 4 times this big.
