The biome tundra is located at the top parts of the world. You can find it near the North Pole. It is also found in locations such as Alaska , Northern Canada, edges of Greenland.
For the most part of the year Tundra is snow covered. Tundras are known to be a part of the Earth's, coolest and toughest biome. The climate is always generally cold and very windy. It is rare to see rainfall. These regions have mild summers, and the average temperature is usually 45f.
In tundra you will find sheep, mountain goats, marmots, and birds, they live in the mountains. The animals that are living in tundras they live in harsh conditions sometimes which cause the animals to be more prone to environmental stress unlike other animals. Also due to global warming animals that are known to be in the south are moving towards tundra areas. For example the Red fox and the Arctic fox are now going against each other for food and space.
The Tundra has a lot of plant life. The plants bearberry, arctic moss, Caribou moss, Diamond leaf willow, Labrador Tea, there is many more but these are the main ones. Animals in the tundra eat these plants to survive and gain energy to stay warm. Some plants can benefit us. The plants adapt by growing short and close to the ground to avoid high winds. Hairy stems also keep plants warm in the tundra. The bearberry is a plant with red berries and green leaves. This plant survives in Tundra by staying close to the ground to avoid the high strong winds. The bearberry isn't found in any other biome.
