- Starting an Ice Cream Franchise
1. When in the consideration stage, potential franchisees should thoroughly investigate the company’s culture and daily operations. This will help to eliminate misconceptions and save franchisees from encountering unexpected complications down the road. Asking current franchisees questions and visiting several different store locations will help potential franchisees to get a feel for the atmosphere of Marble Slab Creamery stores and to set realistic expectations.
2. To begin the process of franchising a Marble Slab Creamery location, potential franchisees must fill out a franchise application. The application will be reviewed and approved based primarily on the financial stability of the applicant. Following approval, potential franchisees will be provided a copy of the Franchise Disclosure Document. Before moving forward with the franchising process, potential franchisees must furnish a copy of an Acknowledgement of Receipt of the Franchise Disclosure Document to the franchisor.
3. When a franchise application is approved, a Development Manager is assigned to assist franchisee candidates with the rest of the franchising process. Development Managers can be very helpful in answering questions and providing perspective about many aspects of starting an ice cream franchise. Establishing a good working relationship with the Development Manager can make life much easier when beginning and continuing to run a Marble Slab Creamery franchise.
4. It will be necessary to provide documentation proving income and consenting to background and credit checks. Marble Slab Creamery requires approximately $100,000 liquidity per store or $250,000 liquidity to take advantage of multi-store opportunities. Spouses of franchisees may also be required to submit to background and credit checks, in some cases.
