MENS FASHION CLOTHING AND HAIRSTYLES

  • A lot of things got wider such as ties, belts, and lapel widened too. Flare fashion had became popular too. The traditional men's suit had changed too, adding shape designs, wider lapels, and flares in the pants leg. Sports shirt for causal wear was popular.
  • The buzz cut, flattop hairstyles, mop-top hairstyles started by the Beatles and also the Herman's Hermit's rock group .

WOMENS FASHION HAIRSTYLE AND HAIRSTYLES

  • It was mixed with all types of patterns and designs including: colorfulness, laid-back, relaxed, tie-dyed, hippie like, and casual.
  • During this time, miniskirts and mini dresses were the center of attention.
  • Women's hairstyles were more elegant and glamorous. It had all types of lengths and colors, it was more flexible.

1960's MUSIC

RECREATION AND LEISURE

  • The most famous shows in the 1960s were the flint stones Charlie Brown and looney tunes.
  • They had lots of hobbies and activities for kids they played games, teens would hangout with friends and adults would work and take care of the family.

FOOD

  • Mexican fiesta, Italian supper (spaghetti), and skillet chicken supper
  • McDonald's, KFC, and Mr. Steak

POLITICS OF THE 1960S

  • Eisenhower was the president
  • Marilyn Monroe was perhaps the most start crossed lover in history. On one hand was her dazzling success in tinsel town and on the other, her volatile and highly secret relationships with the much-married President of the US and his brother. Monroe’s name was linked to both John F Kennedy and Robert F Kennedy.

ECONOMY IN THE 60s

  • The economy was good
  • During the 1960s the United States experienced its longest uninterrupted period of economic expansion in history. In the 1960s housing and computer industry overpowered automobiles, chemicals, and electrically powered consumer durables, which were the leading sectors in the 1950s. Big business dominated the domestic economy during this time. In 1962 the five largest industrial corporations accounted for over 12 percent of all assets in manufacturing. By 1965 General Motors, standard old of New Jersey and ford had larger incomes than all the farms in the United States. America’s overseas investment increased to $49.2 billion in 1965.
  • The unemployment rate was about 5.5% in the 60s
  • There we wage and labor shortages.

VALUES AND CULTURE

  • The sixties were a time of change, counter culture and political movements. Many young people involved themselves in trying to make America a better place for all people, no matter what gender or race they were. The sixties began with the election of America's youngest president, John F. Kennedy. During his period in office people stepped out and said how they felt. They thought that with Kennedy leading America, anything was possible.
  • The 60s was the the time of bright colors and wanting to be free to do whatever they felt like having open relationships with anyone.

VALUES AND CULTURES

  • As the 1960s progressed, widespread social tensions also developed concerning other issues, and tended to flow along generational lines regarding human sexuality, women's rights, traditional modes of authority, experimentation with psychoactive drugs, and differing interpretations of the American Dream.

  • 1960-The halogen lamp invented. 1961-Valium invented. The nondairy creamer invented. 1962-The audio cassette invented. The fiber-tip pen invented by Yukio Horie. Spacewar, the first computer video game invented.
