APPEAL TO FEAR

• - used to scare the audience into taking their side
• -An example of Appeal in Fear in the book is the phrase "Big Brother is Watching" which was introduced on page 1
• - This phrase was successful because it scared the citizens of Oceania to be very cautious of their actions since they are always being watched

DYSTOPIA

• (n.) an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or enviromentally degrading.
• Ex. The Hunger Games

GESTICULATE

• (v.) to make or use gestures especially in an animated and excited manner
• Ex. The man began to gesticulate his feelings when he won the lottery.

INDOCTRINE

• (v.) to forcibly
