PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Global warming is the gradual increase of the temperature of earths atmosphere and oceans. Over the past century the average temperatures have gone up by just over one degree. This may not seem like much, but many scientists agree that the earths temperature are starting to increase at a faster rate.

Global warming occurs when greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane trap heat inside the earths atmosphere. Burning fossil fuels like petroleum and deforestation both contribute to this problem. Global warming has already started to affect the earth. Arctic glaciers have begun to melt, threatening wild life such as polar bears.

There are ways we can combat the effects of global warming. The clean air act of 1990 is a law in the United States that attempts to protect and improve the earths air and atmosphere. This law includes limiting harmful vehicle emissions and phasing out the use of chemicals that can damage the ozone layer.

A major cause of global warming is the increased use of electricity. Leaving your phone charger,tv,or your computer plugged in cause electricity to continue running. Plugging out everything before you leave the house can reduce the risks of global warming.

In the end, global warming continues to increase and temperatures continue to rise, the negative effects on our environment will become more and more of a problem to us and to our future generation.
