CAUSES

  • Disagreement among the Mexican people over dictatorship of president Diaz
  • Power belonged to select elite
  • People could not elect officals
  • Could not express their opinions

FRANCISO I. MADERO

  • Thought President Diaz should renounce his power
  • Created the "anti-reelectionista" party
  • - To go against Diaz reelection in 1910
  • - Through armed resistance it won political power in 1911 (by defeating Diaz)

  • Plan of San Potosi (1910)
  • -Wanted the nullification of the elections
  • -wanted to reinstitute democracy through violence
  • Treaty of Ciudad Juanez
  • -signed by Madero in 1911
  • -stated Madero must resign from office by May 1911 and De la Bara was to be elected
  • Plan of Ayala
  • -By Zapata to get rid of Madero
  • La Dencena Tragic ("Ten tragic days")
  • -Events in Mexico City that led to the assassination of Madero

EFFECTS

  • The PRI party or (Institutional Revolutionary Party ) was the party of the Mexican Revolution and was used in Mexico until the year 2000. Spanish: Partido Revolucionario Institucional)
  • Emiliano Zapata, the symbol of land reform and proud ideological purity, became an icon for rebellion against a corrupt government in Mexico.

CHINESE REVOLUTION(1911)

  • A group of revolutionaries in Southern China led a successful revolt against the Qing dynasty, establishing in its place the republic of China and ending the imperial system

CAUSES

  • Group of revolutionaries in southern china led a revolt against the Qing Dynasty
  • People were against the imperial system in China

EFFECTS

  • Ended the imperial system that had ruled China for more than 2,000 years.
  • The establishment of the Republic of China
  • Brought a series of changes to social customs and the people's moral outlooks and habits
  • The new modern industry of the Republic of China outperformed the Qing Dynasty in things
  • -education, media, medical services, and etc. (These helped create significant conditions for social and economic developments)

MORE EFFECTS

  • Laid the way for the founding of the Chinese communist party (CCP.)
  • The emancipation brought by this revolution caused various political and social theories like Marxism to spread throughout China. (Marxism is the political and economic theories of Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels)(Communism)
  • The revolutions dream of pursuing capitalist republic was derailed and people had to find another road, which laid the road for China to choose socialism.

THE RUSSIAN REVOLITION

  • The Russian Revolution of 1917 involved the collapse of an empire under Tsar Nicholas II and the rise of Marxian socialism under Lenin and his Bolsheviks. It sparked the beginning of a new era in Russia that had effects on countries around the world.

CAUSES

  • An Indirect cause that led up to the revolution was a toll that was taken on Russia's economy and government after a series of wars. (The Crimean War, The Russio-Turkish War, The Russo-Japanese War, and WW1)
  • Tsar didn't understand the forces of industrialization and nationalism that were growing through out Russia. His disregard for the struggles of the people led them to lose faith in him and the long-standing tradition of autocracy. Leading them to want to revolt against Tsar. the population boom in 1867-1896. This made an great increase in the peasant population resulting in a direct cause. The increase in famine and land distribution among peasants. (Peasants were the majority)

CAUSES

  • The rise of the industrial working class. These workers were employed in the mines, factories and workshops of the major cities. They suffered low wages, poor housing and many accidents. The government tried to pass factory acts to restrict the amount of hours one could work resulting in strikes and conflict between workers and the police.

CAUSES

  • Another cause was the disapproval of Tsar Nicholas 11.
  • Tsar thought he was chosen by God. And he always put his family matters and his own life before his country.
  • Tsar didn't understand the forces of industrialization and nationalism that were growing through out Russia. His disregard for the struggles of the people led them to lose faith in him and the long-standing tradition of autocracy. Leading them to want to revolt against Tsar.

  • Formation of Soviet Union

  • Emergence of Russia as a world power
  • Spread of communism throughout the world
  • Criticism of imperialism,which lent hand to nationalist movements in colonized countries
  • More focus on education had an impact on population
