VIKING GODS

ODIN

  • Odin was the ruler of the Aesir, a group of deities in Norse mythology. Sometimes called Allfather, Odin played a central role in myths about the creation and destruction of the world. He was the god of battle and also of wisdom, magic, and poetry.

THOR

  • Thor appears throughout Norse mythology as a huge, strongly built, red-bearded fellow with a huge appetite. He grew out of Donar or Thunor, an ancient god of sky and thunder. Some myths say that Thor was the son of Odin and Fjorgyn, the earth goddess.

LOKI

  • Loki is the Norse God of Mischief and Lies. At one time he was also known as being the God of Fire. Although Loki is the son of a frost giant, he lives with the gods on Asgard because he tricked Odin to becoming his blood brother.

FREYJA

  • Freya is one of the preeminent goddesses in Norse mythology. She's a member of the Vanir tribe of deities, but became an honorary member of the Aesir gods after the Aesir-Vanir War. Her father is Njord. Her mother is unknown, but could be Nerthus.

BALDER

  • Balder, Old Norse Baldr, in Norse mythology, the son of the chief god Odin and his wife Frigg. Beautiful and just, he was the favourite of the gods. Most legends about him concern his death.

FREYR

  • Freyr Old Norse Freyr, sometimes anglicized as Frey a god who belongs to the Vanir tribe of deities. He's also an honorary member of the other tribe of Norse gods, the Aesir, having arrived in their fortress, Asgard, as a hostage at the closing of the Aesir-Vanir War.

TYR

  • Ancient God of War and Odin's left-hand man. He started off as a fearless Germanic War God, and became ODIN’s trusty second-in-command when the Vikings came along. ... Now he is very left-handed as that is the only hand he has left.

HEIMDALLR

  • In Norse mythology, Heimdallr is a god who possesses the resounding horn Gjallarhorn, owns the golden-maned horse Gulltoppr, has gold teeth, and is the son of Nine Mothers. Heimdallr is attested as possessing foreknowledge, keen eyesight and hearing, is described as "the whitest of the gods" and keeps watch for the onset of Ragnarök while drinking fine mead in his dwelling Himinbjörg, located where the burning rainbow bridge Bifröst meets heaven.
