Evaluation question 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Opening questionanire

When initially planning the questionnaire we decided to use questions that will allow the consumers to give their honest opinions. The reasoning behind using a survey to collect data was simple in the fact that we wanted to be able to analyse the results easily. The results of this survey allowed us to create a better overall music video as we were able to identify the key themes and preferences our target audience would prefer to see, We used the survey creation site called SurveyMonkey. This website was extremely useful as it allowed us to analysis the information much easier due to the websites already separating the results into the users preferences such as a bar chart, pie chart and line graph. this not only analyses the information received from the consumers however allowed us to display the information much more easily,

one of the main purposes of this questionnaire was to gain information which would later allow me to develop and make choices for the music video. In order to gain a wide variety of information we decided to leave the survey open for the public to answer, the results in which we have gained were crucial in the making of the music video. For example we emphasized the use of a narrative or concept throughout the questionnaire. Due to the results we based the music video to cater these needs of having a narrative/conceptual hybrid. This was both challenging and entertaining. What we learnt form our audience feed back was vital in regards to the creation of our music video.

Due to the information that was received we needed to cater to our target audience. To gain more customer responses we used the school email to attract a wider variety of consumers, overall the feedback in which I have gained from this has allowed changed the way we approach the making of the music video and the ancillary task. The audience feedback allowed us to create a piece of media art that both applies to the codes and conventions and needs of the consumers.

Another piece of primary research in which I have conducted is the Vox pop, a box pop is where one question is asked to a number of participants in ores to gain feedback and a different perspective upon the single question. The question I asked the participants is "What Dance Sub-Genre Would You Like To See A Music Video Based Upon" the results in which cam back from the participants were varied. Most of the participants shared the result that they would preferr to see and the option EDM was the winning choice. This news allowed me to generally base the music video around the genre. Withouth this information the genre of my music video would have been nuclear and therefore the research and planning over the conventions of the genre would not be suited for this task.

When looking at the postproduction questionnaire I have learnt many different elements which the consumer likes and dislikes. This survey was once again created on SurveyMonkey in hopes to gain allot of responses, The reposes i did collect allowed me to gain an honest opinion upon my music video. The consumer feedback showed me that the overall music video was a success in targeting the correct audience and creating a media piece in which they enjoyed. The consumer feedback also showed me the importance of sharing the products as this will allow them too give constructive criticism to me in order to help me identify possible solutions and mishaps with my final piece of media. The post production questionnaire asked questions such as if the narrative was clear, the answer to this questions shows that the consumer could acknowledge the narrative of the music video.

The post production analysis also allowed the me to ask more simpler questions such as if the user enjoyed the colour scheme or imagery used throughout the music video. This information allows me to asses and critique my own personal music video and ancillary task. From the the consumer feedback form the post production analysis I have learnt that most of my target audience enjoyed the music video and some of the target audience believed that different components of the music video were with the codes and conventions such as colour schemes, use of visual imagery.

The next peice of feedback given to me from the audience is the spoken feedback analysis, When conducting this task i organised a group of individuals together. The group of individuals were all roughly in the same age range and were mixed in gender. The thing I learnt most when carrying out this peice of work is that there was some criticism of my work. for an example one of the answers stated that I should use different designs and that the designs I used were those not a a EDM music genre variety. For this peice of research i use two methods, on ebbing SurveyMonkey and the other being a paper based questionnaire. I believe the different methods of questing the participants provided us me with differennt results. the paper based questionnairee has shown me similar results when comparing the results to the inline based survey. This feedback has taught me that I will need to participate in more extensive research to match conventions.

The final peice of feedback in which i received was from social media. This is the social media feedback analysis in which i completed on the 6th of February, This feedback taught me a great amount when it comes to the perception of which the consumer is thinking. The feedback was generally positive which is great as it proves that we generally met the codes and conventions of the music video and EDM genre. This feedback is easy to analyse and is appreciated however we were also looking for critisms. These criticsms came in the form of an existing artist called "Khaylan" the artist stated that he enjoyed the video however was unsure upon how the narrative was shown, this criticism has taught me too create a multitude of different designing and sketches for different outcomes and maybe creating two narratives therefore i will be able to choose and not be stuck with the same narrative throughout the whole editing process. Overall i would state the the consumer feedback was helpful in allowing me to gain knowledge on how to improve the music video and also what platform to show the media creations in the future as the social media pages i used allowed me to gain information easily and quickly.

REFECTION

When reflecting upon the entire A2 course I am able to see that there are a variety of things in which we can all improve and that we can learn from. Of the skills in which we can definitely learn how to use more is team communication, this was an obvious obstacle and I believe that it shows from the final blogs. If the team communication was clearer we would be able to execute tasks much more efficiently, due to the lack of communication within the group we were not able to perform the tasks to the best of our abilities. The level of communication that was needed was not apparent and therefore as a result we were not able too perform to the best of our abilities as a team. The team communication skills was not the only difficulty in which we felt. Another was the timing and willingness of team members. On shooting days three of the four team members were on set shooting, this proved to be a problem as this meant that more pressure and responsibility was placed on the other teams members. This proved to be a difficulty as it caused tension and friction between the group.

Some of the team member roles that we worked well was the creation of the video itself, and the teamwork when applying ourselves to the task. When creating tasks such as the story board or the rushes, it is clear that the team was able to come together to create a detailed piece of work the was influential in creating the final outcome. The team work in which we displayed when creating these pieces show that when creating tasks and applying ourselves to the coursework as a collective we are able to ensure that the work is of high quality and is influential. Another positive I gained from the teamwork skills is willingness to share responsibility. This is in regards to distributing tasks to those who feel comfortable in composing the piece of work. As a whole I would argue that upon reflection the team could have been communicating better however when applying ourselves to the task, the final outcome was always that of high standard.

When reflecting upon myself there are several things I have achieved while completing the course, My Photoshop skills have definitely improved throughout my media course. I have created a final digipak as well as an advert. My skills have been developed thorough the constant use of Photoshop throughout the course. The research in which I have conducted throughout the course through digital technologies such as YouTube and google which is shown on my blog when researching initial ideas for the digipak. The use of Photoshop also has helped me in creating professional images In which allow the promotion of my music video. Another positive reflection I have acknowledged is my time management skills, these skills including completing the coursework on time and leaving enough time to complete my ancillary tasks.

When reflecting upon myself throughout the course I am able to see that my editing skills were not fantastic, I am able to say this as the creating tasks such as the cutting to the beat task and also the lip syncing video the editing skills were not desirable. The mediocre results as well as a combination of me being unaware of editing techniques and a lack of imaginative ideas showed me that I was unable to perform the role of editor during the coursework's entirety. This is a role in which I will need to improve upon as the ambition to study coursework at university excites me. Another part of the course in which i can improve upon is my motivational skills, as the director I believe that my motivational skills could be improved when assigning tasks to individuals. This could be achieved by making clear and communicating what tasks were assigned to who at the start of the course to limit the amount of confusion within the task. This would have helped us tremendously as it would mean that the tasks would be prepared for the future tasks as well as improving the past tasks.
