The Declaration Of Independence

The main ideas and how it affected future generations.

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

WHAT ARE THE MAIN IDEAS OF THE

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE?

1. All men possess unalienable rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness

2. King George had violated colonists rights. He passed unfair laws, interfered with colonial self-government, taxed colonists without their say, and sent a large British army to the colonies.

3. The colonists had a right to break away from Britain. Since King George had broken the social contract, the colonists didn't need to obey him.

How does this influence us today?

GOING ALONG WITH RIGHTS, WOMEN CAN

VOTE AND DO EVERYTHING MEN CAN.

France and other nations were impacted by it. In the French Revolution, the French Declaration shares similar ideas to the Declaration of Independence.

WITHOUT THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE,

THE U.S. WOUDN'T BE A FREE COUNTRY.
