Where and how is mining used in minnesota?

Mining usually takes place in the northern part of Minnesota. Clay is mined in the Minnesota river valley. Manganese, copper, nickel and titanium are also mined in Minnesota.

What are some laws and regulations for the use of land and water used while mining?

Im Minnesota there are laws that prohibit or restrict the leasing of state owned minerals. There are also laws on the confidentiality of mineral data.

Those laws mean that some people cannot lease or sell minerals owned in Minnesota and they cannot share the data of a mineral discovered.

Mining has an effect on our fresh water because of chemicals, acids and oils that are used leak into the waterways.
