Begginings
-On June 16, 1911, Charles Flint founds the Computing Tabulating Recording Company (CTR)
-Based in New York City, the new company had 1,300 employees and offices and plants in Endicott and Binghamton, New York; Dayton, Ohio; Detroit, Michigan; Washington, D.C.; and Toronto, Ontario.
-Later, Charles Flint looked for the help of Thomas J. Watson. Watson later became General Manager of CTR in 1914 and President in 1915.

Beginnings
-Watson implemented a series of business tactics that would later on become the culture of IBM: generous sales incentives, a focus on customer service, an insistence on well-groomed, dark-suited salesmen, and an evangelical fervor for instilling company pride and loyalty in every worker.
-February 14, 1924, the CTR name was formally changed to International Business Machines Corporation (IBM).
