LANDFORMS

• There are several landforms in these mountains.
• For example: Mountains, gaps, rivers, hills, and plateaus
• The Cumberland Gap is famous of gap landforms in the Appalachians.
• One of the rivers in the mountains is the Missouri River.

PLANTS & ANIMALS

• White tailed deer can be found along with...
• Elk, black bear, chipmunks, weasels & coyote
• You will find maples, oaks, serviceberries, firs & azaela.
• You will also be able to find mountain laurel & Catawba Rhodoerdron.

RELIGION

• Christianity is mostly practiced in this region.
• Most are Protestant and only a few are Catholic.

TOWNS IN THE AREA

• This region is called Central Appalacia.
• Central Appalacia has up to three times the national poverty rate.
• These mountains are one of the poorest disadvantaged mountains in the US.
