About Me

• I am from Spokane, WA
• I graduated from EWU in 2020 with a BA in Secondary English Education

Teaching Experience

• I have taught for three Years at Lakeside High School in Plummer, ID
• I currently teach ELA 10, ELA 11, and ASB
• I have previously taught ELA 9 and speech

I have always used Canva in my classroom. As a teacher I have access to a free Pro account, and I love all of the graphics and options that Canva offers. Even though there are a lot of possibilities, I still find it very user-friendly.

EDUC 538 Goals

• Learn new technology tools to support engagement.
• Learn how to teach my students to use technology and consume media responsibly.
• Explore discourse on the evolution of media and technology in the classroom.

Media Literacy to Me

• Engagement with and comprehension in all forms of content
• Using technology in appropriate and productive ways
• The definition is ever-evolving as technology grows

I See Media Everyday Through:

• Social medias: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc.
• Teaching: Canva, Google, Microsoft, etc.
• AI through ChatGPT and other sources

Real-World Learning in My Class

• I want to implement technology into my classroom to help my students feel more "college ready."
• Many of my students are taking dual-credit classes and struggling with online learning platforms.
• I also teach research projects to help students become more critical consumers of media as they become adults.
