Who are you?

Who am I?

I am still a pretty new teacher

This is basically what I'm doing in my classes

I hope you can get an idea for yours

It's probably going to feel like I'm just unloading a fire hydrant of stuff at you

Why “performance classes”

(we are underrepresented at conferences like this)

I’m in the beginning of my exploration of this, I’d love any ideas you have

What is blended vs. flipped

Blended is a continuum of on-site and online

Avoiding “course and a half” syndrome, (“Essentials for Blended Learning; A Standards-Based Guide” by Stein and Graham) where you just add to what you’re already doing rather than replacing

It isn't new for us...

(for years we’ve asked them to go home and work on stuff and come back ready to play in class)

Why use blended and flipped classroom?

  • Differentiation
  • Exposure to the discipline
  • To go at their own pace
  • Help with playing tests
  • Assessment

Accountability for Videos

  • Zaption (BOO!!!!)
  • NearPod
  • EdPuzzle
  • PlayPosit (I'm using this)

PlayPosit

Supports LTI integration with LMSs (meaning they will talk together) - import grades

Students don’t have to sign up

I can trim videos, require students to answer all questions, require them to watch all the video

Ability to embed images and other things into questions

They are super nice

To go at their own pace
