  • Wanted weaker central government
  • Wanted rural and agricultural environment
  • Leader was Thomas Jefferson
  • Opposed the constitution

Federalists wrote federalists papers - 85 essays.
Anti-federalists responded by only ratifying the constitution if they added a bill of rights.
