Cultural puralism

  • Cultural pluralism is a term used when smaller groups within a larger society maintain their unique cultural identities, and their values.

Supply side economics

  • is a macroeconomic theory arguing that economic growth can be most effectively created by lowering taxes and decreasing regulation, by which it is directly opposed to demand-side economics.

Stagflation

  • persistent high inflation combined with high unemployment and stagnant demand in a country's economy.

Trickle Down

  • persistent high inflation combined with high unemployment and stagnant demand in a country's economy.

The Left

  • a group or party favoring liberal, socialist, or radical views.

The Right

  • refers to the movement of American conservatives in the 1970s and 1980s that rose up in opposition to liberal policies on taxes, abortion, affirmative action, as well as foreign policy stances on the Soviet Union.

Amnety

  • an official pardon for people who have been convicted of political offenses.

Human Rights

  • a right that is believed to belong justifiably to every person.

Voter Apathy

  • among voters in an election. Voter apathy or lack of interest is often cited as a cause of low turnout among eligible voters in jurisdictions where voting is optional and the donkey vote where voting is compulsory.

National Debt

  • the total amount of money that a country's government has borrowed, by various means.

Presidential Pardon

  • A President is empowered with the power to pardon under Article 72 of the Indian Constitution. Article 72 says that the President shall have the power to grant pardons, reprieves, respites or remissions of punishment or to suspend, remit or commute the sentence of any person convicted of any offence.

OPEC

  • is defined as an abbreviation for Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, which is a union of oil producing countries that regulate the amount of oil each country is able to produce. An example of OPEC members are Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq.

New Federalism

  • New Federalism is a political philosophy of devolution, or the transfer of certain powers from the United States federal government back to the states

Liberalism

  • the holding of liberal views.

Embargo

  • an official ban on trade or other commercial activity with a particular country.

consercatism

  • commitment to traditional values and ideas with opposition to change or innovation.

Feminism

  • the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes
