Religion Comparison (Creation story)

Christian Beliefs

• Christians believed that the God created everything within seven days. A beautiful garden was created.
• After the garden was created. God created a man and women to look after everything in the Garden.

Christian Beliefs

• Adam and Eve had authority over everything.The only thing they could not do was eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
• A snake tricked Eve into eating the fruit from the tree. God knew of what they had done and banished them from the Garden.

Muslim Beliefs

• God created a paradise that Adam and Eve lived. When they disobeyed he created Earth.
• It is taught that God created the Earth to give food, drink, and shelter to humans.

Muslim Beliefs

• If one were to obey God they they will be saved and will live with him in Paradise when they pass.
• They are taught to always submit and obey to God.

(Christian) Purpose

• It is believed that humans are one of God's most important creations.
• I think the purpose of the creation story is to try and walk in the way God desires.

(Muslim) Purpose

• I think that the purpose of this creation story is to know to submit to and obey God with all his creations.
• Being thankful for all living things and everything that God has created.

Structure (Christian)

• The text for this story is set up in events. The narrator tells the story form one event to the next.
• There is also a little bit of cause and effect. When Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit they were banished

Structure (Muslim)

• The structure in this story is similar. The text tells what God did from beginning to end during the creation.
• The text also says " For those who submit to God will be saved, and taken to live for ever in Paradise."
• If one disobeyed then they would know the effect of doing the wrong thing.

• Overall both the Christian and Muslim Creation stories are similar and different.
• Both stories contain Adam and Eve forsaking God, but it different stories are told on how God created everything before human kind
• They are also similar because both stories say that God gave the humans authority, but the purpose for the stories are definitely interpreted differently.
