How to join the Coast Guard

  • Talk to a recruiter
  • Either go to college to become an officer or go directly to a boot camp for enlisted
  • From college, officers apply to OCS (Officer Candidate School) where they learn about their chosen jobs.
  • Cadets are sent to their jobs in the Aviation Division or the Port division where they begin their career as a member of the Coast Guard.
