• The 1861 eruption was Africa's largest recorded eruption
• It destroyed 2 villages and killed more than 100 people

POPULATION

• No one lives there, maybe because the 1861 eruption wiped out the 2 villi ages near it

CURRENT ACTIVITY

• Mt. Dubbi is currently dormant

OTHER FACTS

• The ash from the 1861eruption was knee deep
• The time was about noon, but the ash was so dark they had to light lamps
• Lava flows from this eruption went on for 22 km in some places
