DNA

THE Instructions
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a nucleic acid that contains the genetic instructions for the development and function of living things. All known cellular life and some viruses contain DNA. The main role of DNA in the cell is the long-term storage of information.

NUCLEUS

CORE
the central and most important part of an object, movement, or group, forming the basis for its activity and growth.

VACUOLE

STORAGE
a space or vesicle within the cytoplasm of a cell, enclosed by a membrane and typically containing fluid.

RIBOSOMES

Ribosomes are important cell organelle. A ribosome is a large complex of RNA and protein. It does RNA translation, building proteins from amino acids using messenger RNA as a template. Ribosomes are found in all living cells, prokaryotes as well as eukaryotes.

CHLOROPLAST

ENERGY SOURCE
Chloroplast. Chloroplasts are organelles found in plant cells and eukaryotic algae that conduct photosynthesis. Chloroplasts absorb sunlight and use it in conjunction with water and carbon dioxide gas to produce food for the plant.

MITOCHONDRIA

FARM
an organelle found in large numbers in most cells, in which the biochemical processes of respiration and energy production occur. It has a double membrane, the inner layer being folded inward to form layers (cristae).

CELL MEMBRANE

A INTERNATIONAL BORDER
The cell membrane is a thin flexible layer around the cells of all living things. It is sometimes called the plasma membrane or cytoplasmic membrane. Its basic job is to separate the inside of cells from the outside. In all cells, the cell membrane separates the cytoplasm inside the cell from its surroundings.

CELL WALL

SUPPORT
The outermost layer of cells in plants, bacteria, fungi, and many algae that gives shape to the cell and protects it from infection. In plants, the cell wall is made up mostly of cellulose, determines tissue texture, and often is crucial to cell function. Compare cell membrane.

CYTOPLASM

A FORCE THAT HOLDS THINGS (LOOK AT PUBLIC NOTES)
The cytoplasm (also known as cytosol) is the protoplasm of a cell outside the cell nucleus. It is the gel-like material plus the organelles outside the nucleus, and inside the cell membrane. ... It includes dissolved molecules, and water that fills much of the cell.
