STARVATION AND DISEASE IN NAMIBIA

NAMIBIA

• Namibia has one of the oldest desert in the world along with the biggest sand dunes in the world reaching 200-350 meters high.
• Namibia has an underground lake called dragons breath and is the largest underground lake in the world going deeper than 450 feet and two hectares wide(about 200 square feet).
• Namibia has the largest cheetah population in the world with about 2,500 to 3,000 cheetahs.

• Namibia is in Southern Africa bordered by Angola, Botswana, and South Africa.
• Namibia's population is around 2,300,000.
• Namibia is one of the least densely populated countries in the world with about 2.7 inhabitants per square mile.
• Namibia is home to one of the largest national parks of the world, the Namib Naukluft Park.

STARVATION

• In the major city of Ruacana there are about 20,000 people on the brink of starvation.
• Refugee camps are set up all over the country, but still more then 20,000 of the people that go still face starvation.
• Over 400,000 people in northern Namibia alone are facing starvation.
• Most kids live in a household so poor they spend 60% of their income on whatever food they can afford.

DISEASE

• Diseases in Namibia include: hepatitis A, typhoid fever, malaria, yellow fever, Rift Valley fever, and rabies.
• Drinking water also puts the people at risk, they cannot find clean water to drink.
• Most people in Namibia can't afford a vaccine for whichever disease they may get.
