EARLY LIFE

  • Born: January 22, 1561 in London, England
  • Dad: Sir Nicolas Bacon was lord keeper of the seal
  • Mom: Lady Anne Cooke Bacon
  • Began attending Trinity College in April 1573,when he was 12 years old!😳

COLLEGE

  • Completed his course @ Trinity in December 1575, when he was 16!
  • Enrolled in a law program at Honorable Society of Gray's Inn, the school his brother attended

CAREER YEARS

  • Became a member of the House of Commons, a position he held for 4 decades!
  • Married Alice Barnham
  • Became Lord Chancellor in 1621
  • Accused of accepting bribes and impeached by parliament for corruption
  • Sent out to find work as a scientist

SNAZZY SCIENTIST

  • Helped create the new edition of the scientific method
  • Sought to test the mind of what he called "idols"

THE 4 IDOLS

  • The idol of human nature ("idols of the tribe")
  • The idol of individual temperament ("idols of the cave")
  • The idol of language ("idols of the market place")
  • The idol of false philosophies ("idols of the theater")
