Advantages/ Disadvantages
It helps to develop creative problem solving skills, as a writer is constantly solving problems the character may be facing, and if those problems take place in the real world, then the solutions must also be real-world solutions. By taking fictional characters through difficult times in their lives, writers can learn how to handle those problems, if they are ever placed in such situations, themselves.
Another benefit of creative writing, especially if the writer is writing group, is that it gives the writer experience in both taking and giving constructive criticism, which are important skills, not only in this occupation, but, in life. The first time someone hears that their work isn’t good enough, can be difficult, but over time, it does get easier. Similarly, If someone thinks they are just being, “bullied,” they will not listen to your criticism, which might actually be designed to help them.
One of the most beneficial parts to pursuing creative writing is the way it can benefit the writer’s emotional well-being. They tend to make regular writing schedules, where, in that time, they can just express their feelings, imagination, anything they want to get off their chest, which is very beneficial for mental and emotional health
Inconsistent Work Flow
You may find plenty of work as a freelance writer, but you may also experience dry spells. Since they get payed per-piece of work, or, contract basis, they usually need to search for work fairly often, to ensure that enough $ is made to support themselves
Long Hours
A lot of freelance writing projects come with due dates, which means, creative writers, must put in long hours, in order to turn a piece in on time. These extended periods of work, particularly where the writer is using a computer, can bring on fatigue and bodily strain.
Lack of Benefits
Self-employed workers (independent contractors), like writers have more responsibilities put on them, than regular workers; obtaining their own healthcare insurance, withholding money from their income to pay taxes (the self employed do not have money taken out of every pay check for taxes like regular employees do.)

What type of person is a creative writer?
In my own words, a person who is a creative writer, is someone who can see situations from different perspectives than most, and has an out of the box type of thinking. As well, most creative thinkers are problem solvers. They are not scared to showcase their feelings, and who they really are, and are willing to take risks with their expressive thoughts.
