THE BEATITUDES

BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT, FOR THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

• Even though you may find yourself poor financially, you can still be rich in other ways. Such as having a positive attitude and seeing the happiness around you
• You could have all the money in the world but unable to find happiness due to a negative attitude. Poor in spirit
• We can easily take things for granted, when there are others who are in need

BLESSED ARE THEY WHO MOURN, FOR THEY WILL BE COMFORTED

• When you loose someone you love you feel upset and hurt and want to be comforted
• We mourn when others lose their loved ones because we know they are suffering and we feel their pain. We want to comfort them
• We should also learn to forgive those who have hurt us, Jesus forgave those who have hurt him

BLESSED ARE THE MEEK, FOR THEY WILL INHERIT THE LAND

• When you choose to be grateful and kind, more good things will happen to you
• But if you choose to be negative and mean less good will happen
• You should try and be kind and be patient and love everyone as Jesus did

BLESSED ARE THEY WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, FOR THEY WILL BE SATISFIED

• We have choices, and our choices have consequences
• We have to understand what making a good choice means
• We have to be able to know why we chose what we did and see if it was the right choice or not

BLESSED ARE THE MERCIFUL, FOR THEY WILL BE SHOWN MERCY

• When someone has done something to hurt you, you should be willing to forgive them
• We should ask for forgiveness, when we have done something wrong
• We must be willing to forgive everyday, like Jesus forgives us

BLESSED ARE THE CLEAN OF HEART, FOR THEY WILL SEE GOD

• To be clean of heart you must focus all your decisions, thoughts, and actions
• Anyone can foolishly put other things at the center like money or fame
• Everything we do is centered on the good of God and what he has done for us

BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS, FOR THEY WILL BE CALLED CHILDREN OF GOD

• Peace means forgiving others who have hurt us, peace means not getting involved
• Jesus brought peace wherever he was, he brought peace and love from God
• Peace can lead to conflict too. When we stand up for what we think is right against others, conflict can happen

BLESSED ARE THEY WHO ARE PERSECUTED FOR THE SAKE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, FOR THEIRS IS THE. KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

• People can hurt you with what they do and say to you or to others
• We face challenges when someone talks about the people we love because we’re standing up for what we think is right
• We stand up for what it means to be a Christian, for the love and friendship we have with God
