Research and planning
- My target audience are people of both genders aged 18 - 26. They belong to the 'cyber goth' or 'punk' group and enjoy electronic music like dub step and drum and bass.
- In their spare time, my audience likes to listen to music, shop for fashionable clothes or attend clubs and concerts.

- In my research, I considered how I was going to attract my target audience, using the right type of font, language, colour scheme, images and content.
I used a simplistic, big bold font for the letters. This is similar to Mixmag's masthead which is also simplistic and relies on additional graphics to create a cool effect.

- I chose not to have features like messy splatter effects and slices through the lettering. These are typical graphics you would find on a rock magazine, such as Kerrang. I didn't want my magazine to resemble a rock magazine.
- I therefore kept the Masthead simple and put a cool glow behind it to make it stand out.
I also used a similar pose to the cover of the dub step issue of Mixmag magazine.

- Most dubstep magazines go for a serious approach. They have serious looking models and plain colours.
- I chose vibrant colours and cheerful models to break this convention and make the magazine look more inviting and less boring.

- When considering my costume choice, I chose a simplistic yet stylish outfit.
- This type of clothing choice (and colour) is similar to most females in existing dub step bands. Examples include Alana Watson Ill-esha.
- I thought this would make the artists more recognisable as dub step artists and help fans identify with them more.
My target audience are between the ages of 18 and 26. This means that they are mature and intelligent, which is why I used a formal style of language. I didn't want to offend or patronise my audience by making the text too simplistic or childish. I included some terms and topics that I think my target audience would use with their peers. These included words; 'hardcore' and conversations about partying and concerts. I think this makes the audience more interest in the band and my magazine interviews.
