Culture:
The totality of learned, socially transmitted customs, knowledge, material objects, and behavior

What did we learn?

Cultural Relatavism:
An individual human's beliefs and activities should be understood by others in terms of that individual's own culture.
Where does culture come from?
Adaptive Mechanism: a behavior, strategy, or technique for obtaining food and surviving in a particular environment.
What's the difference between a cultural norm and a sterotype?
Our goal is to identify the dominant narrative (culture) while recognizing minority narratives (sub-cultures).
Stereotype:
A fixed notion or conception of people based on their group identity.
Cliché:
A phrase or expression that has been used so often that it is no longer original, interesting or meaningful
What's a more interesting statement?
What's the counter-narrative?
What Makes a Good Question?
- Shows curiosity & humility
- Allows individual to speak
- Doesn't make assumptions'
- Doesn't make judgements
