Important or New Concepts

  • E-Portfolio
  • Deocratic Classrooms
  • Technology Inequality

While it has been around for a while, it seems so strange to create one; a digital teaching portfolio.

E-Portfolios and students

  • I really like the ease of access that comes with teachers having a e-portfolio or a teacher website
  • I think that it can make student and parent involvment much easier outside the classroom
  • In this technoligfaly driven age, this can increase your credibily as an educator.

One idea I liked and had not heard of before was the idea of a democratic classroom.

Democracy for all

  • In this classroom, the students have a say on how they do homework and assessments.
  • This is a good method because when students become more involved when they have a choice in what they do.
  • Some critics think that this cannot work because the students will make silly choices.
  • However, the teacher is still in charge and will always ensure the class meets all standards.

Technology inequality divides are still present between whites and minorities.

However, while whites have typically have access to desktops; mobile technology has greatly influenced the presence of minorities online. However, students can not do work a lot of their on a cellphone.

Teachers have to come up with way to close the technology divide between racial groups. One way is to make sure every student has access to a computer at school.

With the right guidance, all students can achieve their goals.
