The term film comes from the fact that photographic film was the medium for recording and displaying motion pictures.

Traditionally, making a film requires a large sum of money. Now, there are amateur filmmakers who can use handheld digital cameras to create short films.

Film is considered by many to be an important art form with the primary purpose of entertaining its audience.

INDIA is the country that produces more films annually and has the largest number of admissions, while the U.S. has the largest number of screens and the largest market by box office gross.

The Philippines has one of the oldest film industries in Asia and remains the leader in Southeast Asia.

• Nonfictional movies intended to record some aspect of reality.
