WHY IS MARRIAGE NECESSARY?

Untitled Slide

“Marriage as an institution then implies certain obligations and grants rights and privileges” by Karasu. It becomes something that is as much a benefit to society as it is to an individual. The institution is what connects the child to the man and the woman who brought them into the world.

Marriage not only unit the two people, but also unites the two families. Once both of the families unites, they can fight for anything that is right and which is not accepted my the society.

In today’s world, a lot of marriage are bring converted into divorce. And this not only break the relation between the couple, but also creates a separation between two families.

In the novel, we can see that Daisy and Tom’s marriage is based on materialistic life. Therefore, both of them are having an affair. And also they don’t seem to be happy with each other. In their marriages life, unity lacked and that cause them to be unhappy.

According to some historians, Marriage is the union of the two people who nurture their child by connecting the mother and the father. Marriage is what gives the child the happiness that they deserve.

Today, children are seem as merely an option, or a personal choice. The innocent child, became a choice for the parents. The choice of responsibility.

In the Novel, we don’t see any love for Pammy especially from her mother and her father. Instead, Daisy use her to show off.

According to Uglow, Marriage based simply on the desires of the bride and groom has become almost universal in the Western Front. We can see that in Great Gatsby. Daisy marriages Tom because she wanted a purpose for her life. And Tom marry Daisy for her beauty.

So, I would like to conclude by saying that marriage is not a desire, but it is the unity between two people as well as two family. Marriage means to nurture the offspring by connecting the mother and the father.
